Chinese skincare - What is it?

What is Chinese Skincare? Probably everyone has heard about Korean skincare and even might be familiar with Japanese skincare, but we'd like to introduce Chinese skincare to you as well.

In contrary to the traditional way of thinking skincare as using skincare products, the Chinese offer a more holistic view to it. It's based on Chinese medicine and more precisely on meridians, the energy channels in your body. By activating the meridians, you can reach, for example, a brighter skin tone and reduce fine lines and puffiness on your face.

The Chinese skincare method is not based on creams or serums at all. It is all about working the connective tissue, the meridians. There are multiple ways you can incorporate this to your skincare routine. You can either concentrate on your face only or by doing body exercises as well.

Facial massage

Facial massage is probably the easiest and quickest way to get yourself a natural facelift. Massaging your face regularly brightens up the skin by enhancing the blood circulation. Better blood circulation reduces puffiness, may help with impurities and soothe the fine lines, too! You can also work on the acupressure points on your face for desired results.

Gua Sha

If you want to take your facial massage to the next level, invest in Gua Sha comb or roller. With this equipment, you can work the tissue a bit deeper and get better results quicker. And not to mention how beautiful these combs and rollers are.

Facial Cupping

Cupping is a method that uses suction cups to stimulate your skin and muscles. The suction promotes increased blood circulation, which may help relieve muscle tension, improve cell repair and reduce the unwanted lines on your face. Cupping is also said to improve the flow of your “qi”, meaning life force in Chinese.


Certain types of yoga work especially concentrating on the connective tissue and meridians. Such types are yin yoga, where the whole practice consists of long holds of different stretches that aim to open up the meridians. Even after one practice, skin appears brighter and less puffy.
